Abstract

An asymptomatic 66-year-old male smoker was noted to have a right upper lobe opacity on routine chest radiograph. A CT scan confirmed a 2 x 1-cm mass in the right upper lobe. Bronchoscopy and CT-guided biopsy were nondiagnostic. F-18 FDG PET demonstrated uptake in the lesion. Lobectomy and immunohistopathologic examination revealed the mass to be pulmonary epithelioid hemangioendothelioma.
