Resumen
The choice of vasoactive medications in the setting of sepsis or systemic inflammation is an important one. Although there are no clear randomized controlled trials in children that demonstrate a clear better choice, the use of dopamine impacts anterior pituitary function and epinephrine does not. This discussion highlights the potential for harm dopamine exerts on the endocrine response to illness.
