Resumen
The etiology of Auditory Neuropathy/Dys-Synchrony (AN/AD), specific risk factors associated with AN/AD and its prognosis are not established for a large number of patients. To help answering some of these questions, the establishment of a database containing physiological and behavioral characteristics for each patient diagnosed with AN/AD is a necessity. Concomhantiy with other methodological approaches, such as animal models, psychoacoustic experiments and anatomic and genetic studies, a database remains a crucial tool in the field of AN/AD research. An AN/AD database will include information obtained by the pediatrician, ENT, geneticist, ophthalmologist, neurologist, social worker and the audiologist and speech language pathologist. The AN/AD database will incorporate specific information regarding the diagnosis of AN/AD, a list of factors associated with AN/AD (imaging studies, genetic and neurological testing), pre- and post-natal periods, family history, general health, management, auditory abilities, and speech and language development.
